University of Florida Alpha-1 Research Program
Client Business
The Alpha-1 Research Program at the University of Florida is an international reference laboratory performing full panel analysis for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. The tests consist of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin level, genotype, and phenotype analysis. In cases where a rare variant is detected, Alpha-1 Antitrypsin gene is “melted” and sequenced for variant identification. Currently three Alpha-1 detection programs are utilizing the services of the UF Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency Detection Laboratory. Through these programs, testing is provided free of charge to the patients.
Business Challenge
The Alpha-1 group uses a FileMaker solution to track samples and results across three studies of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. The solution is quite complex and requires care when making changes, to ensure accurate processing of samples and reporting of collected data.
Solution Provided
