xBase
xBase is a base solution that Extensitech provides free of charge to its clients. It serves as a "jump start" for new projects. xBase includes relationship and contact management, activity management, and administration screens. It includes some basic building blocks common to most business requirements, including People, Companies, user Accounts, Employees, Phones, Faxes, Emails, etc. More importantly, xBase includes standards and conventions that make it easier to add new screens and functions unique to our clients' needs.
Version 3 of xBase includes a number of enhancements, including a more friendly look and feel, a modified anchor-buoy structure and "xScript", a reusable script that encompasses most of the usual functions, such as creating, updating and deleting records, which you can control with parameters.
The xBase solution is a free download. It includes a developer manual. If you are a developer and would like to use xBase for your own projects, Extensitech is happy to discuss details of xBase in return for input and feedback, or can contract to do the customization and custom development for you. Either way, xBase itself is free, for both personal and commercial use.
xTimestamp
The new calendar drop-down is a great new feature since FileMaker 8, but doesn't help much when entering times or timestamps. The xTimestamp utility pops up as a new window, and allows the user to select either a time, a date or a timestamp using intuitive calendar and clock images. The utility works in FileMaker 8, and no plugins are required. Just run the "Select" script in this file with two simple parameters, and retrieve the script result. This utility is absolutely free, for both personal and commercial use.
